Job description
The Opportunity:
Our client has been operating for over 13 years and is well established as a premier e-commerce brand in the fashion market. They have a growing number of distribution points around the globe where they service both direct to consumers and wholesale channels.
An amazing opportunity to take ownership of the entire finance function and oversee and report on the financial health of the business. Work with a turnover of circa $15Million and 6 staff. Please note e-commerce experience, and exposure to inventory purchasing and selling globally with foreign currency would be beneficial for this role.
This is a strong hands-on support role to the business owners. Progression to a CFO role in the future is on offer for the right person.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all elements of cashflow forecasting, performance analysis and budget development/reviews
- Treasury management.
- Cost accounting for inventory.
- Effectively manage cash flow, oversee day-to-day finance and accounting functions, including oversight of the AP/AR function.
- Build and adjust annual budgets for capital expenditure, overhead, and sales targets with consultation from relevant team members.
- Provide financial insights, advice and recommendations to the Directors.
- Perform 3-way financial modelling, forecasting and profit and loss analysis.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations (BAS, IAS, Superannuation, Payroll Tax)
- Wholesale customer profitability analysis
- Competitor analysis
- Collaborate with external accountant and external portfolio finance manager on technical issues and project tasks.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing including tax, super and other legislative requirements are adhered to
- Proactively lead the finance team with a focus on high quality, accurate and timely support to internal/external customers whilst ensuring that processes, employees and systems perform efficiently
- Lead the Finance team (currently 2 staff) and ensure all are following processes and procedures to uphold culture and environment.
- Internal control and accounting/procedure policy development.
Purchasing and Planning Element – would be a bonus but not absolutely necessary
- Manage seasonal buy plans.
- Conduct margin and forecast analysis.
- Oversee buys and forecasting for wholesale and eCommerce channels.
- Handle PO placement for Indents and Replenishments.
- Manage demand planning for region purchasing.
- Produce seasonal performance reports.
- Conduct monthly product classification reviews.
Required aptitudes:
- A self-starter; you must be able to up-skill yourself and gain the knowledge required if there are any gaps;
- Highly personable; you will be dealing with a range of stakeholders from creative persons, external accountants, private-equity representatives and warehousing staff. Therefore, it is critical that you have first class communication skills with any type of stakeholder;
- Solid understanding of perpetual inventory systems, inventory costing and warehouse operational activities;
- Solid understanding of revenue recognition principles;
- Strong foundation in financial reporting knowledge of AASB;
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills;
- High energy and strong work ethic.
Desired aptitudes:
- 3+ years’ experience as a Financial Controller or an ex-big 4 Manager with relevant commercial engagement experience;
- CA or CPA qualified;
- Experience in preparing financial statements that require a statutory audit
- Experience with Xero accounting software;
- Experience with Cin7 Inventory system.
- Experience working for predominately e-commerce or retail brands.
