Exciting Opportunity: Financial Accountant for an engineering company

A highly successful, global, design and engineering consultancy firm is looking to expand their finance team in Brisbane.  This new vacancy for a Financial Accountant to work closely with the Finance Manager and support the business's continued success.  This is a hands-on transactional role with a pathway for career progression. 

The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to improving accounting procedures and policies, to enhance team efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Month end processing of journals and reconciliations
  • Weekly & monthly staff timesheets monitoring and reconciliation
  • Assist with budgeting and cash flow forecasting
  • Assist with annual audit and statutory financial statements
  • Input invoices and expenses, and other entries into financial system Agresso/ Unit4
  • Reconciliation of the company bank transactions, updating cash flow
  • Maintain fixed asset register
  • Assist with year-end reporting
  • Review and reconcile expenses and company virtual cards
  • Assist with the monthly review of project financials and forecasting
  • Collaborate with project managers, help with submitting invoices for approval, follow up with debtors
  • Providing internal project managers with guidance and support in the financial aspects of their projects and company systems
  • Create, maintain, and close projects in Unit4 ERP (formerly Agresso) system and provide a link between Unit4 and the project management system (currently Replicon)
  • General ledger administration using Unit4
  • Play a key role in system integration between Replicon and Agresso, and SAP at a later date
  • Ad hoc reporting of projects, costs, time, rates etc. from Unit4 system and the project management system
  • Payroll processing, reconciliation, payroll tax and accounts
  • Monthly and quarterly reconciliation and submission of BAS (GST, PAYG, FBT, etc)
  • Attend Group company events as appropriate
  • Observe and maintain Company Health and Safety Policy across all activities

About You:
  • Ideally, you are working towards your CPA qualification  
  • Experience in an SME/Consultancy business with international exposure desirable 
  • You have proven ability to build, maintain and develop relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Company tax knowledge including GST, BAS returns and FBT is required
  • IT literate, with strong excel skills
  • strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with the different business teams 
  • You are driven to make a positive impact on internal processes and procedures
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, highly results orientated with a strong drive to deliver practical solutions
  • Good reporting / writing skills
  • Proven ability to work to defined, agreed targets and priorities
  • Ability to cope under pressure and ensure deadlines are met, whilst maintaining a high quality of work
  • Highly driven and looking to take on more responsibly as the company expands
