Exciting Opportunity: Financial Accountant for a development company
A highly successful, development company is looking to expand their finance team in Brisbane. This new vacancy for an Accountant to work closely with the Financial Controller and support the business's continued success. This is a hands-on transactional role with a pathway for career progression.
The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to improving accounting procedures and policies, and to assist the Financial Controller to enhance team efficiency and compliance.
Included in this role, there will be 6-8 overnight trips per year to enable you to stay connected to one of the company's development sites in Queensland.

The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to improving accounting procedures and policies, and to assist the Financial Controller to enhance team efficiency and compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with financial management of a group of entities:
- Prepare reconciliations and/or check reconciliation of bank accounts
- Reconciliation of all inter-entity company loans and invoicing
- Check accuracy of entries & liaise with Administration Assistant & Bookkeeper
- Preparation of monthly workpapers, balance sheet reconciliations & other EOM Procedures.
- Management Reports updated monthly
- Enter monthly journals (prepayments, depreciation etc)
- End of quarter BAS and monthly IAS for a group of Companies
- Debtor management
- Calculation of monthly commissions for invoicing
- Assistance with managing commercial leasing including invoices, rent reviews and communication with Lessors
- Budgeting and general ad hoc reporting.
- Preparation of Workcover declarations and Payroll Tax calculations.
- Management of inter-entity invoicing.
- Payroll including Wages & Superannuation Payable reconciliations
- Assisting the Financial Controller
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field
- 3-5 years experience in an accounting role
- Experience in commercial real estate, development or construction valued.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software, MYOB experience preferable
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to problem solve and find system and process efficiencies.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
PERFORMANCE GOALS:
- Ensure all financial reports are submitted on or before the scheduled deadlines, meeting the expectations of the finance team and management
- Enhance proficiency in accounting software and other relevant tools, with a focus on leveraging technology for improved efficiency
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations, implementing any necessary adjustments to ensure compliance
- Positively contribute to organizational culture
